The folk museum is located at Laskestad on the southern side of the island of Engeløya.

At the former doctor’s residence in Steigen, the woman of the house serves delicious lefse (traditional sweet folded pancake) and cakes, while you can enjoy in the café or out in the garden. You can admire the blooming garden which includes perennials from the old vicarage garden.

You may join your guide on a tour of the doctor’s lovely lounges and visit his surgery and become acquainted with the working conditions of the district doctor at the turn of the previous century.

The folk museum also features a crofter’s cottage, tin smithy, general store and a tool shed featuring a large collection of agricultural and fishing implements.

Skagstad’s old school, which is located at Skagstad on the northern side of the island, also belongs to the museum.
