On-line outdoor recreation map for Salten
Salten Friluftsråd (outdoor recreation council) has a map on its website designed to inspire and assist hikers in Salten. This service is free. This map is probably Norway’s most complete hiking planner for an entire region. The internet-based map was made possible by the print outdoor recreation map for Salten and hiking books for each municipality in Salten. Considerable effort has also been made to acquire information from the different companies and organisations that provide accommodation, boat hire and other products and services aimed at outdoor recreation enthusiasts in the region.

Sporting clubs in Hamarøy, Hamarøy Fysak and Nord Salten Turlag (Hiking Association) invite keen hikers on fantastic hikes in the Realm of Hamsun.

The hikes on offer cover the full spectrum, from a few metres above sea level to up towards 1000 m, and cover a variety of levels of difficulty. Most people should be able to complete this hikes as long as they allow sufficient time and go at their own pace.
