The Hamsun Society is a privately owned society which was founded in 2003, based on an initiative by the Hamarøy Municipal Council. The society owns and arranges the Hamsun Days at Hamarøy. It shall also create continuity, contribute to collaboration between the different Hamsun actors and create drive in the total Hamsun effort in Hamarøy. The Hamsun Society shall pay particular attention to making Hamsun, Hamarøy and Nordland visible as a tourism destination both nationally and internationally.
