Steigen Sagaspill is an amateur theatre played every second year in Steigen Municipality. It is based on a well-l\known Scandinavian wandering tale about the loving couple Hagbard and Signe, deeply rooted in the Viking era. The play, a tragedy in classical style, was written by Bjørn Erik Stemland in 1985, and the music was composed by Helge Alføy.
The performance takes place in the open air at Vollmoen amfi and involves several hundred actors. Everyone works on a voluntary basis and everyone, including the actors and musicians, are amateur. The music is played by Stigen bands and orchestras, and in recent years has been under the musical direction of Tore Johansens.

Steigen Sagaspill depicts the mythical Viking society Steig, framed by Steigen’s nature, history and local actors.
Steigen Sagaspill is a society with the objective of staging the play and arranging the Sagaspill week.
